• Long Distances - in ideal conditions ordinary Cat5/6 copper networks will only work over a maximum distance of 100 metres.
• Harsh Environment - usually refers to large amounts of electrical interference that would corrupt data carried over conventional copper wiring.
• High Data Capacity - normally required if there are two or more areas that regularly transfer large amounts of data between them.
